The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court against the bail granted to scholar-activist Anand Teltumbde in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case.
The right hand of TJ Joseph, professor of Newman College in Thodupuzha in Idukki district, was chopped off by alleged PFI activists on July 4, 2010.
The case pertains to the organisation of Elgar Parishad in Pune on December 31, 2017 which promoted enmity between various caste groups and led to violence, resulting in the loss of life and property and statewide agitation in Maharashtra, an NIA spokesperson said.
This is Navlakha's second round of appeal in the high court seeking regular bail.

NIA had sought 15-day custodial interrogation of the accused who were arrested from various parts of the national capital and Uttar Pradesh.
During searches conducted in Kozikhode and Kannur districts of Kerala these six people were arrested, the spokesman said. Five of them were arrested when they were allegedly conducting a meeting at Kanakamala hilltop in Kannur district.

The West Bengal government has assured the Calcutta High Court that the law and order situation in violence-hit Murshidabad district is under control.
